Description: An absolutely elegant and artistic 22-string slide guitar artistically handcarved into a Peacock Chaturangui.
22-strings solid wood, hollow neck, made with an amazingly clear and rich sound. Entirely hand crafted and hand engraved inlays all around the instrument including the extension at the neck and headstock of the instrument. This slide guitar is specially designed with Roman, Greek, French as well as Persian influences blended with 12th centuries Indian craftsmanship.
All designed by Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya.
During the rise of industrailism in India, many ivory craftsmen and multi-generations of artists from Bengal had become jobless and struggled with their livelihoods. In effort to perserve their artistic traditions and practices, many began to focus on woodcrafts.
In the making of these instruments, Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya has hired a family of special and skilled woodcrafters into this guitar workshop to keep the delicate and refined practice alive and give aide to a long generation of artists.
The purchase of this instrument supports these humble and masterful wood craftsmen who have dedicated their whole life in the making of instruments and other creative art pieces.
